Business History
In May, Masao Moriyama establishes Moriyama Works in Higashiyodogawa-ku, Osaka. The new company starts researching on fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) forming machines.
|---|---|
Develops a pilot plant for continuous FRP corrugated sheet manufacturing equipment.
• Helps create lighter railcars as part of a research project commissioned by Tetsudo Kenkyujo (the research branch of Japanese National Railways, the forerunner of today’s Japan Railways Group). • Releases continuous FRP corrugated sheet manufacturing equipment, followed by a glass fiber preforming machine, high-speed mixer, ribbon mixer, high-speed/high-power kneader and two-axis extruder. The products are widely acclaimed.
Develops a kneader for polyester premix (the forerunner of today’s double-arm kneader).
Develops a two-axis tapered extruder and a kneader-ruder.
• Develops an MS-type pressure kneader. Starts delivering it to industries requiring kneaders able to handle diverse materials ranging from high-hardness rubber compounds to low-viscosity material. • Designs and manufactures the FRP parts for the first domestically built submarine for Japan’s Maritime Self-Defense Force. Later, designs and manufactures the FRP parts for the second and third domestically built submarines.
Exhibits at the Osaka International Trade Fair for the first time (a separate plastics category is later created, Plastic Japan). Exhibits at each fair held thereafter.
Establishes a Tokyo sales office and boosts sales in Kanto area.
| 1968 |
Completes the Sanda Plant in Sanda, Hyogo prefecture. Works on modernizing and rationalizing production equipment. |
Develops SMC manufacturing equipment.
Completes a kneader plant containing cutting-edge large-scale processing machinery. Increases the production scale.
Develops FRP preforming machinery (preforming machines, FW machines and BMC supply equipment).
• Establishes a mass-production system for MS-type pressure kneaders. • Starts developing continuous kneaders; completes a prototype.
Develops a pressure kneader-ruder.
• Completes a new type of pressure kneader with a new mechanism. • Completes prototypes of ribbon manufacturing equipment and a cold-feed extruder.
Starts manufacturing the completed ribbon manufacturing equipment and cold-feed extruder.
Develops FR pellet sheet manufacturing equipment driven by an MS-type two-axis taper screw. Starts delivering it to industries requiring extruders that can be used for granulating and sheet manufacturing.
Develops an SPM sheet preforming machine driven by an MS-type two-axis taper screw. Starts delivering it to industries seeking to rationalize kneading lines.
• A ceremony marking the Company’s 30th year anniversary. • A local subsidiary, Moriyama Corporation, in New York state, US established. • The second plant and R&D building in Sanda, Hyogo established. • Exhibits at The National Plastics Exhibition in Chicago, US.
Exhibits at Rubber Expo (in the US) for the first time.
Establishes a general-purpose building in Sanda, Hyogo prefecture; boosts the R&D organization.
• R&D reinforced by Moriyama’s reorganization. Nagoya sales office opens. • A large-scale SPM sheet preforming machine launched, expanding the series lineup. • Mix Lab launched, a computerized high-performance knead process testing device. • MS-type continuous kneading system developed, combining an MS-type continuous kneader and FR pellet sheet manufacturing equipment.
• The third plant established in Sanda, Hyogo prefecture. • A test plant and office opened.
Masao Moriyama receives the Yellow Ribbon Medal in recognition of his many years of research and invention.
A ceremony marking the Company’s 40th year anniversary.
• Moriyama Company Ltd., taking over the business of former Moriyama Works. • Nihon Spindle Manufacturing Co., Ltd. provides a capital infusion, raising the capital to 30 million yen.
Triples the capital to 90 million yen.
Purchases a new building.
Moves into a new building. Integrates the headquarters and plant functions.
Establishes Moriyama USA. Boosts sales in North America.
Signs an agency agreement for North America with Sanyu USA, Inc.
Relocates the headquarter and plant to Amagasaki where the parent company (Nihon Spindle Manufacturing Co.,Ltd.) is located.
Merges with Nihon Spindle Manufacturing Co.,Ltd
